The Yara Estate is located in Kiambu District about 23 Km North of Nairobi. Established in 1902, with the first coffee being planted in 1930, Gatatha Farmers Co. Ltd are the current owners and operators of the estate. Utilizing a more uncommon approach to coffee processing, after depulping the cherries, the coffee is subjected to open air fermentation as opposed to the more conventional fermentation in water tanks between 12-48 hours. Once the coffee is fermented, it is rinsed and dried on raised drying beds. Adding to the complex floral and fruity taste profile of this outstanding coffee.
