Description
The Hartmann Estate is currently in its third generation of stewardship, helmed by Ratibor Hartmann along with 4 of his siblings, with each sibling is in charge of a specific operation on the farm. Coffee here is grown in nutrient rich volcanic soil, and the micro-climate provides the farm with mild-temperatures all year round. Their method of shade-grown coffee has not only contributed to the conservation of the flora and fauna on their land, but also producing some of the most amazing coffees in the world. This amazingly fruit forward and aromatic coffee is produced via the “Winey” process, a method refined over a few years by the the Hartman family, involving extremely ripe fruit selections and drying it on raised African drying beds. Much more attention to the drying process is required due to the overly ripe nature of the coffee cherries.
